You don’t have to be wildly organised to have a wildly romantic time. A few simple ingredients go a long way.

Set the alarm (sorry) and wander over the dunes together.
Camber Sands at first light is all soft colours, tide lapping the shore and gulls wheeling overhead – often with hardly another soul around.

Barefoot paddles, shared flasks of coffee, and that “we really should do this more often” feeling come as standard.

Wandering Rye’s storybook streets

Just a short hop from Camber, Rye is made for hand‑in‑hand exploring.

Cobbled streets, crooked beams, hidden courtyards and cafes where you can linger over cake and a pot of tea. Climb St Mary’s tower for huge marsh and sea views, then duck into a low‑beamed pub when the sea breeze gets a bit too bracing.

Which cottage is best for a true “just us” getaway?

The Surf Shack is our only sleeps-2 property — a private beachside cabin built for couples, with a log burner, outdoor seating, and the beach just steps away. If you’d prefer a little more space (but still want that cosy-for-two feel), Seasalt and Beach Boutique are both intimate 1-bed cottages that sleep 4 but work beautifully as a luxurious couples’ retreat.

Do any of these cottages have a fireplace or log burner?

Yes — most of our romantic cottages have some kind of fire feature. The Surf Shack, Ocean Beach, Coastguards Lantern, and Coastguards Beach House all have real log burners. Owlers has a contemporary fire, Tradewinds has a gas fireplace, and Beach Boutique and Seasalt have electric fireplaces. We’d always recommend checking the listing for the exact setup, as fire features can change or be seasonal. Choose based on how important a real flame is to your stay!

Which cottages are closest to the beach?

For “steps from the sand” beach access, look at The Surf Shack, Coastguards Lantern, and Coastguards Beach House — all are right on the coast. Beach Boutique and Seasalt are a short walk (~5 mins to the dunes), and Owlers Cottage is around a 10-minute walk. All our Camber cottages give you easy beach access; it’s just a question of how quickly you want to press a button on the kettle and be on the sand.

Can we bring our dog on a romantic break?

Several of our romantic cottages are dog-friendly (check the listing for details and any dog fees). Camber Sands is a brilliant beach for dogs, especially in the quieter months. If you’re planning a dog-free trip, that’s noted on each listing too — so you can choose accordingly.

Absolutely. Whether it’s a milestone birthday, anniversary, or “just because” celebration, these cottages make a lovely base.
