Most of our cottages welcome dogs, and plenty of guests come to us for exactly that reason.
But it isn’t what everyone’s after. Some people are allergic. Some are travelling with a child who’s nervous around dogs. Some simply want a house that’s never had an animal in it. And if that’s you, scrolling past cottage after cottage with a paw print on it gets old quickly.
So here are the cottages we keep pet-free, and an honest account of what that does and doesn’t mean.
Quick answer
Our pet-free holiday cottages in Camber Sands are Seaglass, which sleeps 6, and Marine House, which sleeps 8. No pet has ever stayed in either of them. Both are on the White Sand development, both have enclosed gardens, and both are a few minutes’ walk from the beach.

Which of our cottages are pet-free?
Seaglass, sleeps 6
Best for a family or two couples who want the beach on the doorstep. Three bedrooms, two of them king-size and one twin. There’s a garden room with French doors onto a south-east-facing enclosed garden, which catches the sun for most of the day. Three minutes over the dunes and you’re on the sand, and the beach chairs, towels and picnic blanket are already there, so you can walk out with nothing.
It’s also the only three-bedroom cottage we have that’s pet-free, so if that’s the size you need, this is the one.
Marine House, sleeps 8
Best for a bigger group who want room to spread out. Four bedrooms over three floors, including a ground-floor double for anyone who’d rather not do stairs, and a ground-floor cloakroom that earns its keep when everyone comes back sandy. The garden looks straight out over Romney Marsh, which is miles of open salt marsh, sheep and big skies. The beach is about five minutes on foot.

What does pet-free actually mean here?
It means no pet has ever stayed in either cottage. Not “no dogs since we changed the rules”, not “we give it a deep clean afterwards”. No animal has been in these two houses as a guest.
That matters more than it might sound. Pet dander is stubborn stuff. It settles into carpets, sofas, curtains and mattresses, and a normal changeover clean won’t shift all of it however thorough it is. A cottage that has never had a dog in it is a genuinely different proposition to one that had a dog in it last week and has been hoovered since.
And what we can’t promise
We won’t tell you these cottages are allergy-free, because no holiday house honestly can be.
They’re ordinary homes with carpets, sofas and soft furnishings. They sit on a residential development where other people have dogs, so you may well pass one on the way to the beach. Dogs are allowed on the wider Camber Sands beach outside the summer months. And if your allergy is severe enough to need a medical-grade environment, a holiday cottage isn’t the right answer, and we’d rather say so than take your booking.
What we can tell you is that no animal has lived or stayed in either house. For most people with a mild to moderate allergy, that’s the thing that makes the difference.

Is Camber Sands a good beach if you’d rather avoid dogs?
Better than you’d expect, and it’s worth knowing before you book anywhere here.
From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are restricted to designated zones on Camber Sands, so a long stretch of the main beach is dog-free right through the summer holidays. The dog-friendly section runs from Zone C along towards the harbour entrance, which means the busy family stretch nearer the main car parks is the part where dogs aren’t allowed. If you’re travelling with someone who’d rather keep their distance, that’s a real advantage over beaches with no zoning at all.
From 1 October to 30 April the whole beach is open to dogs, so it’s worth factoring in if you’re booking an autumn or winter break.

Bringing a dog after all?
No hard feelings. Dogs are welcome in almost all of our other cottages, and Jury’s Gap beach behind the Coastguard cottages has no seasonal dog zones at all, so dogs can run there in August as easily as January. Have a look at our dog-friendly cottages in Camber Sands.

Do you have any pet-free holiday cottages in Camber Sands?
Yes. Seaglass sleeps 6 and Marine House sleeps 8, both on the White Sand development and both a few minutes’ walk from the beach. Neither accepts pets of any kind.
Have pets ever stayed in Seaglass or Marine House?
No. No pet has ever stayed in either cottage. They aren’t cottages that used to take dogs and stopped, which is why we’re comfortable recommending them to guests with allergies.
Are your pet-free cottages suitable for someone with a dog allergy?
For a mild to moderate allergy they’re a good choice, because no animal has ever been in either house. We can’t call them allergy-free, though. They’re ordinary homes with carpets and soft furnishings, and if your allergy is severe we’d rather you spoke to us first than booked and hoped.
Can I bring a cat to a pet-free cottage?
No. Pet-free means no animals at all, including cats. Cats are welcome by request in most of our other cottages.
Do you have a pet-free cottage with three bedrooms?
Yes, Seaglass. It sleeps 6 across three bedrooms and it’s the only three-bedroom cottage in our collection that’s pet-free.
Are dogs allowed on Camber Sands beach?
