Big birthday coming up? Golden anniversary? Or just finally getting the whole gang in one place at the same time (minor miracle)?
Our seaside cottages around Camber & Rye are made for those “everyone together at last” moments – with sandy toes, salty hair and zero stress about who’s sleeping where.
Big get‑togethers, minus the faff
We know that planning a celebration can feel like herding seagulls. So we keep things simple.
Many of our larger cottages – and groups of cottages close together – are perfect for:
-
Families and friends spreading out over multiple bedrooms and bathrooms
-
Big shared meals around proper dining tables, not balancing plates on laps
-
Children, teens, grandparents and pooches all under one (cosy) roof
-
Cars, buggies and kit – with off‑road parking at lots of our places
Think sociable open‑plan living, comfy sofas, log burners to hunker down by and outdoor spaces where the kids can run off steam while you top up everyone’s glasses.
What are you celebrating?
Milestone birthdays & anniversaries
Who doesn’t want a big seaside hurrah for the big 4‑0, 5‑0 or 60‑something‑and‑fabulous?
Stroll the sands, book a special meal in Rye or bring in a private chef to cook at your cottage, then finish with fizz by the fire while the waves roll in outside.
Multi‑generational family gatherings
Parents, grandparents, babies, teens… and at least one family pooch. We’ve got you.
Many cottages have ground‑floor bedrooms, enclosed gardens and plenty of fridge space for all the snacks. Days on the beach, marsh walks, twitten‑wandering in Rye and back in time for a film night round the tellybox.
Big weekends with friends
Meet in the middle at the seaside and turn a weekend into a mini‑holiday.
Think: windswept walks on Camber Sands, vineyard visits for English fizz, long pub lunches, then board games, playlists and a big shared supper back “home”. A proper midweek escape works brilliantly too, if you can sneak away.
Christmas, New Year & festive breaks
Swap motorway dashes for marsh mists and frosty dunes.
Our winter stays are made for fairy lights, stockings hanging by a log burner and bracing walks before the big lunch. New Year at the coast means sparkling skies, beach strolls and a very civilised start to January.
Cottages that work brilliantly together
Sometimes the best set‑up is a cluster of cottages rather than one enormous house.
We’ve got options where:
-
Two or three cottages sit along the same lane
-
You can be a short stroll from the dunes but still shut your own front door
-
Early‑risers and night‑owls can happily coexist in separate spaces
Ideal if you’d like grandparents in a quieter bolthole, or a “kid house” and a “grown‑up house” within nipping‑distance of each other.
Tell us your group size and how you like to holiday, and we’ll suggest combinations that work a treat.
Seaside fun for all ages
One of the joys of basing your big celebration here is that everyone can do their own thing, then regroup for food and stories.
From Camber, Rye and the Romney Marsh, you can:
-
Splash in the shallows, build castles and inevitably get sand in your sandwiches
-
Wander Rye’s cobbled streets, tea rooms and little independent shops
-
Explore marsh paths, nature reserves and big‑sky viewpoints
-
Book kitesurfing, paddleboarding or boat trips for the adventurous
-
Head to local pubs and foodie spots – with vegan‑friendly options too
And if the weather turns full “British seaside”, you’ve always got cosy cottages, games, books and the tellybox waiting.
Seasonal celebrations beside the sea
Spring gatherings
Daffodils, lambs on the marsh and that first drink outside a pub again. Perfect for Easter get‑togethers, half‑term stays and multi‑generational breaks when everyone’s ready to emerge from hibernation.
Summer by the shore
Barefoot paddles, BBQs in the garden, picnics in the dunes and kids who only come in when the sun does. Ideal for school holiday escapes and big birthdays that deserve a sunset beach walk.
Autumn & winter hunker‑downs
Think windswept walks, rosy cheeks, hot chocolates and hunkering down after dark.
Autumn brings amber‑glowing Rye and vineyard visits; winter is for storm watching, marsh mists and log‑burner naps after a long lunch. Cosy season is celebration season here.
Little details that make a big difference
The big moments are yours to create – we just quietly make them easier:
-
Off‑road parking at many cottages
-
Comfy beds, full kitchens and space for highchairs and travel cots (in family‑friendly spots)
-
Enclosed gardens or terraces at lots of homes – good for toddlers and sandy paws
-
Log burners or toasty heating for out‑of‑season get‑togethers
-
WiFi strong enough for playlists, photo sharing and the odd bit of “we’ll just check that quickly”
If you need recommendations for caterers, cakes, decorations, local pubs or vineyards, just ask. We love helping to join the dots.
Planning your big celebration
Not sure which cottage (or combo) will work best?
Tell us:
-
How many you’ll be
-
Who’s coming (little ones, teens, grandparents, pooches)
-
What you’re celebrating and how you like to spend your days
We’ll point you towards the seaside stay that fits – whether that’s one big base or a few friendly cottages clustered together.
Share the seaside joy
We’d love to see your celebration snaps – from windswept group photos in the dunes to birthday cakes on the deck and pooches joining the party on the sand.
Tag us and share your stories from your big get‑together beside the sea. And if you’d like a hand plotting a surprise or adding a special touch, just let us know when you book.
See you – and your favourite people – beside the sea
