“Peaceful surroundings” Nov 2016
Lovely cosy cottage, beautifully furnished and the welcome goodies were much appreciated 🙂 Peaceful surroundings and only a short walk to the beach and shop. Dune bar restaurant serve great food but visit early evening if low season. Excellent sightseeing in Rye and also recommend the outlet centre in Ashford that we visited on our way home!
“What a wonderful cottage – a cut above” Aug 2016
We found the cottage easily. As we entered the cottage it was instantly presented as clean, modern, fresh, light and airy. Although compact it feels spacious. The cottage is furnished to an excellent standard with comfortable sofas and beds. The cottage is fully equipped for cooking and a lovely generous welcome pack. The wifi is excellent. The bathroom is modern and clean, towels provided. The decoration in the property is very well done, in keeping with seaside theme and was very relaxing. The outdoor space was lovely to enjoy the sun and private. Short walk to beach and local convenience stores was handy. Had a lovely week here, would recommend!
“Relaxing” July 2016
Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend stay down at Camber – first time and was very impressed. A short walk to the immense beach, which my 7 month old dog loved! Numerous drinking and eating establishments available and the house itself was clean and modern. Would highly recommend!
“Perfect for a relaxing break” April 2016
I stayed at Rufty Tufty with my two children aged 3 and 5 years, and my mum. It is such a gorgeous house with everything you need and more. The house has all modern new appliances, is spotlessly clean, very light and comfortable. The location is perfect for a quiet trip away. Tucked away but within walking distance of the beautiful camber sands beach, local pubs and shops. Can’t wait to return.
“Comfortable and practical” April 2016
Rufty Tufty is a neat 2 bedroom house, built in the style of a traditional fisherman’s cottage, but with all modern conveniences. Furthermore, the house has been recently totally refurbished with all new equipment and we were fortunate to have been among the first to stay there under its new ownership.
It is situated on the edge of the White Sand housing development and faces onto open farmland where ewes and their newborn lambs were grazing when we stayed. The house is separated from the fields by a small stream where swans sometimes swim and in turn the stream is fenced off, so it is both child and dog friendly.
Furnished in a modern style, it is light and airy with especially comfortable beds and proper wardrobes to hang clothes. All appliances are brand-new and include dish-washer, washing machine and equipment for proper cooking when you return from Rye or Dungeness withe fresh fish for which the area is rightly famed.
As the crow flies, and once you have crossed the dunes, the house is a only a few minutes from Camber’s miles of sand. Ancient towns (“cinq ports”) such as Rye and Winchelsea are a must to be visited from this most convenient location.
Our tip concerns the Gallivant restaurant within walking distance.(See my separate review.) On Monday evenings the Gallivant allows you to choose from its a la carte menu, where some mains are £20 or more, for £16 for 2 courses or £20 for 2. This is outstanding value for money for cooking of this standard.
