This page will be reviewed and updated regularly.
Last updated: 18th April 2020
We have taken the decision to not take any future bookings to commence before the 5th June 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
At Beside The Sea Holidays we have made this decision in order to protect our customers, owners, cleaners and staff during this difficult period, and we will be reviewing this regularly based on advice and updates from the UK Government.
Beside The Sea Holidays are closely monitoring the situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and we want to reassure our customers we are doing everything we can to provide you with the necessary support and advice.
We have been working with our imminent guests (currently up to arrivals that were due until May 7th 2020) this will be extended upon further advice from the UK Government regarding restrictions on travel. We have been sending credit vouchers via email for the value of the stay to guests whose stays are affected by the travel restrictions to date and the majority have now postponed to later dates or are going to use the vouchers to amend their booking in due course. No amendment fees are being charged for this.
Please refrain from calling at this time if your holiday falls beyond these dates, we will be updating guests in due course. If you do feel you need to contact us please use our email addresses which are on correspondence from us.
We will be continuing to follow guidance from the UK government. We will keep you informed, as and when the situation changes, so please refer to this page for regular updates.

How are you working with your Home Owners?
All of the cottage we manage are owned by different people (holiday home owners), we are working closely with them to facilitate the amendments to enable customers to transfer their bookings to a later date. The booking contract is between the holidaymaker and home owner and we are working closely with them to keep them up to date on the ever changing scenarios as their booking agent.
Will I be refunded if I choose to cancel my holiday?
We want the best possible outcome for everyone, which is why we are issuing vouchers via email and/or taking email requests for date amendments (for guests with bookings up until the 7th May at present) to your stay, and waiving the normal amendment fees for this. We are currently not able to offer refunds, which is why we are making it as easy as possible for you to move your dates to an alternative one in the future, to allow you to make use of the holiday that you’ve been looking forward to.
If cancellation is your only option, we suggest contacting the company that provides your cancellation or travel insurance.
Can I amend my holiday or change my dates?
We are currently offering those staying between now and 7th May 2020*, the opportunity to change the dates of their holiday to a later date** by sending credit vouchers for the value of the stay to you directly by email. We are able to review amendment requests via email to us if you would rather ask us to amend the booking for you (rather than rebook with the voucher) and we will respond to your email request regarding availability for the requested dates in due course.
What happens if the dates I choose are more expensive?
If you choose to transfer your booking to like-for-like dates in 2021, we can confirm they will be priced at the same rate as 2020.
However if you choose to take your stay at a different time of year to the stay you had booked or choose a stay which is of a longer duration to that you had booked we cannot guarantee the price will be the same, and if the new stay dates are therefore more expensive, you’ll be asked to contribute the additional payment for the dates of your choice.
We won’t charge the additional and usual amendment fees for this.
Am I covered by cancellation insurance?
If you purchased insurance via Booking Protect on the Beside The Sea Holidays website when booking your holiday, this is a third-party company and we recommend checking your insurance policy documents for the terms of your policy.
If you purchased your policy from an insurance company independently, please refer to their policy documents and T&Cs as we cannot guide you on this.
Will I be refunded if I can’t go on holiday because I am self-isolating?
If you have cancellation insurance, please check with your insurance provider directly or refer to your policy documentation. Alternatively, if your holiday is due to commence before 7th May 2020, you will have received a voucher code form us to be able to rebook or else you can contact us by email so we can try and secure your alternative dates without incurring the amendment fee.
What will happen if I need to self-isolate whilst on holiday?
We recommend that you continue to monitor the guidance from the Department for Health & Social Care. It is recommended, should you be required to self-isolate, that this is carried out at your home residence, in case the need arises for a more prolonged period of isolation.
I still want to cancel. What should I do?
You can still opt to cancel your holiday in line with our Terms and Conditions.

Where can I receive more information about Coronavirus?
We would advise you to check the GOV.UK website for the most up to date information. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public
*Currently we are sending vouchers to those with holidays commencing up to and including 7th May 2020.
**The voucher is dated to be used within a year to the anniversary of the start date of your holiday, but the stay you rebook doesn’t need to be taken within that timeframe, it can be for beyond this dates if that is what you choose.
